I didn’t know Sean for a while but the last year working besides him has been a blessing.
When I first met Sean he was a grumpy old man that didn’t want anything to do with me, however I wanted to learn his job and so I forced him to teach me how to do it.
Through that, Sean and I created a wonderful friendship that I will carry in my memory. He would talk to me about his kids, his wife, his dog, motor cross and his crazy van life. It was never really a conversation as I could never get a word in, he would yap and yap and yap which I enjoyed because as I said, at first he was just a grumpy old man.
I accidentally allowed Sean to use my address to order things for his van as he wanted an up do, I say accidentally as he then never stopped ordering things, from crazy colour changing LED lights to wing mirror wipers and maybe even an exhaust pipe? Who knows!
I really appreciate all the crazy life advice he gave me, however I did have to tell him that I would be buying a house, not a van, and he was not happy about that. He would notice days that I was down and always say ‘come talk to your uncle Seany about it’ and I did, and I always felt better.
He was a sweet kind man that put up a grumpy front, but with a little bit of nagging you could get through to see his sweetness. I’m so very sad about his passing, as are many people. I wish I had gotten to say goodbye before I left work to begin my MAT leave, but I suppose everything happens for a reason.
Rest easy Sean, you will be missed.
